Sytems Online's EzParts software requires MSSQL Express 2008 R2 or higher on all machines when installing EzParts.  We configure default settings for the installer that are compatible with most machines.  However,  in some cases, some computer settings on users computer preventing the install from functioning properly when called from our setup application.  this is usually due to group policy or security settings.  Since we do not display MSSQL Express options to the user during the install, it will be necessary to run the MSSQL express Installer from Microsoft manually in order to install this dependency on the users machine.

Instructions: 

1. Determine what minimum version of MSSQL that is supported by your manufacturer's data set. If necessary, send an email to our support team with the manufacturer information and we will assist you in identifying what minimum version of MSSQL is support for any manufacturer.

   •  If manufacturer data set's minimum version of MSSQL Express is 2008R2 or newer, follow these steps: Download and install the correct version of Microsoft's MSSQL Express 2008R2 from www.microsoft.com The installers can be found here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30438

   •  If manufacturer data set's minimum version of MSSQL Express is 2012 or newer, follow these steps: Download and install the correct version of Microsoft's MSSQL Express 2008R2 from www.microsoft.com The installers can be found here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29062

2. You will want to select one of the 2 options shown below for download and installation - depending on if your machine is 64 or 32 bit Install MSSQL using the installer that you downloaded. It is CRITICAL that you set 2 setup options correctly:

   •  The first install option is the "instance name". It is important that you specify instance name 'EZPARTS5_2008R2'
     This will allow EzParts installs to identify the correct instance for restoring the MSSQL database in the future.
   •  The Second install option is "Mixed Mode" security Additionally - you may receive a "Warning" that MSSQL Express 2008R2 is not support on Windows 10. If you receive this warning - you can continue the installation.
     This DOES NOT mean it is not compatible, it simply means that Microsoft support will not assist with install issue.

3. After you have completed the install for MSSQL Express 2008R2 from Microsoft, run the EzParts electronic parts catalog software application's Setup again. The EzParts setup will recognize the installed correctly named instance of MSSQL automatically.
   If you receive the MSXML error after installing MSSQL Express and re-running the EzParts Installer - PLEASE CONTINUE the install and, DO NOT ABORT.
